About event

Myroslav SKORYK is not just the most famous composer in Ukraine. He is the author of music for the epoch-making film "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors" by Sergei Parajanov. His opera "Moses" is the only work in Ukraine that received the blessing of Pope John Paul II, and the legendary "Melody" is a musical symbol of Ukraine - its Independence! Myroslav Skoryk's work has long been part of the world's musical heritage.

In 2020, Maestro Skoryk prepared a unique program, combining his works of recent years with the music of probably the most mysterious composer of the nineteenth century - Modest Mussorgsky.

International soloists are invited to take part in the concert: the winner of more than 30 international competitions is Japanese saxophonist-virtuoso Kent Igarashi, bright pianists of the young generation: Honored Artist of Ukraine Diana Gultsova and Scholar of the President of Ukraine, winner of international competitions Maxim Shadko and Tatiana Gadva National Opera of Ukraine, which will perform one of the last opuses of M. Skoryk - vocal cycle "To the Muse" in the words of Bohdan-Ihor Antonych.

The program will be performed by the Odessa Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra. Maestro Igor Shavruk is behind the conductor's desk.

A significant moment will be the performance of the famous cycle of Modest Mussorgsky "Pictures from the exhibition". The version of this work for the chamber orchestra and ensemble of ten percussion instruments was created by Myroslav Skoryk. This large-scale idea, which he worked on for more than two years, became his last major creative project.

The concert is organized by the National Concert Agency "UKR Artists".

The author of the idea and organizer of the project is Oleksandr Piriyev.
